Can You Sell Sleep?

A salon is selling seven private chambers to tired New Yorkers for twenty to forty minute naps.

Will Americans pay for sleep? According to IMS Health, a healthcare research firm, Americans spent over $3 billion on prescription sleeping medications last year. We also spent $20 billion on special beds, special pillows, white noise machines, etc.

A company that complies spa directories says they foresee “sleep” as a spa trend for the future. And spas aren’t the only ones selling sleep.

Nicolas, the entrepreneur, thinks there is a bright future for his sleep salons.

What a great marketing lesson. Just like people are now willing to pay for bottled water when they can have it free from the tap; quality sleep is now something you need to buy.

What other free items can you package in a different way and get people buy them?
